She’ll Be Coming Round the Mountain

She’ll Be Coming Round the Mountain

I loved this song, including the little words in between.  This isn’t specifically a Girl Scout song, just a fun kids song. All the words in parenthesis are shouted or, if they’re sounds like “toot toot”, make the sound!  We also made up little actions to them, like the motions of a truck horn during the “toot toot”.  Little pantomimes make the song extra fun.

She’ll be coming round the mountain
When she comes

(Toot, toot!)

She’ll be coming round the mountain
When she comes

(Toot, toot!)

She’ll be coming round the mountain,
She’ll be coming round the mountain,
She’ll be coming round the mountain
When she comes

(Toot, toot!)

She’ll be driving six white horses
When she comes

(Whoa back!)

She’ll be driving six white horses
When she comes

(Whoa back!)

She’ll be driving six white horses,
She’ll be driving six white horses,
She’ll be driving six white horses
When she comes

(Whoa back! Toot, toot!)

Oh, we’ll all go out to meet her
When she comes

(Hi babe!)

Oh, we’ll all go out to meet her
When she comes

(Hi babe!)

Oh, we’ll all go out to meet her,
We’ll all go out to meet her,
We’ll all go out to meet her
When she comes

(Hi babe! Whoa back! Toot, toot!)

She’ll be wearing red pajamas
When she comes

(Scratch, scratch)

She’ll be wearing red pajamas
When she comes

(Scratch, scratch)

She’ll be wearing red pajamas,
She’ll be wearing red pajamas,
She’ll be wearing red pajamas
When she comes

(Scratch, scratch, Hi babe! Whoa back! Toot, toot!)

She will have to sleep with Grandma
When she comes

(She snores!)

She will have to sleep with Grandma
When she comes

(She snores!)

She will have to sleep with Grandma,
She’ll have to sleep with Grandma,
She will have to sleep with Grandma
When she comes

Little Bunny Foo Foo

Little Bunny Foo Foo

This is a really fun song, as kids love the motions of the bopping field mice on the head.  A lot of schools teach this, at least that’s where I first learned it. I feel like some people would think that it’s not a good idea to teach a kid a song about bopping mice on the head but I personally think it’s harmless.

(Chorus) Little bunny Foo Foo
Hopping through the forest
Scooping up the field mice
And bopping ‘em on the head

Down came the good fairy and she said

“Little Bunny Foo Foo,
I don’t want to see you
Scooping up the field mice
And boppin’ ’em on the head.
I’ll give you three chances,
And if you don’t behave
I’ll turn you into a goon!”

The next day:

Chorus

Down came the good fairy and she said

“Little Bunny Foo Foo,
I don’t want to see you
Scooping up the field mice
And boppin’ ’em on the head.
I’ll give you two more chances,
And if you don’t behave
I’ll turn you into a goon!”

The next day:

Chorus

Down came the good fairy and she said

“Little Bunny Foo Foo,
I don’t want to see you
Scooping up the field mice
And boppin’ ’em on the head.
I’ll give you one more chance,
And if you don’t behave
I’ll turn you into a goon!”

The next day:

Chorus

Down came the good fairy and she said

“Little Bunny Foo Foo,
I don’t want to see you
Scooping up the field mice
And boppin’ ’em on the head.
I gave you three chances
And you didn’t behave
Now you’re a goon! POOF!!”

The moral of the story is:
HARE TODAY, GOON TOMORROW

Song That Never Ends

Song That Never Ends

Of course, this can be a horrifically annoying song for any adult, to realize the consequences before you teach a child this! I would not actually recommend teaching your girls this song as it WILL drive you insane. But, in case they’re butchering the lyrics somehow, now you can set them straight!

This is the song that never ends
It just goes on and on, my friend
Some people started singing it
Forever just because…(Repeat)

Riki Tiki Tomba

Riki Tiki Tomba

This is a fun song, though you have to listen to the song to get the rhythm going. I don’t know the origins and I can’t find much about it online. It’s a repeat after me song, where the girls sing the lines back after a counselor starts the song.

Tomba Tomba (repeat)
A riki tiki tomba (repeat)
A moosa moosa moosa (repeat)
Wayla wayla wayla wayla (repeat)

Repeat the first three lines louder and louder each time, but do the “Wayla” do it very softly

On the final time, sing the first part soft and the “Wayla” loud.

Check out this video to get the rhythm! They do it the opposite of how I learned it, getting quieter each time it’s repeated. To each his own 🙂

Moonshadow

Moonshadow

Yes, the song Moonshadow was made famous by Cat Stevens, though I learned this song at camp long before I knew anything about Cat Stevens.  We sang it frequently by the fire as some of the last songs of the evening to wind down before bed.

(Chorus) I’m being followed by a moon shadow
Moon shadow, moon shadow
Leaping and hopping on a moon shadow
Moon shadow, moon shadow

And if I ever lose my hands
Lose my plough, lose my land
Oh, if I ever lose my hands
Oh, well…
I won’t have to work no more

And if I ever lose my eyes
If my colors all run dry
Yes, if I ever lose my eyes
Oh well …
I won’t have to cry no more.

Chorus

And if I ever lose my legs
I won’t moan and I won’t beg
Oh if I ever lose my legs
Oh well…
I won’t have to walk no more.

And if I ever lose my mouth
All my teeth, north and south
Yes, if I ever lose my mouth
Oh well…
I won’t have to talk…

Did it take long to find me
I ask the faithful light
Ooh did it take long to find me
And are you going to stay the night.

Chorus
Moon shadow, moon shadow
Moon shadow, moon shadow
Moon shadow, moon shadow
