Coast to Coast

Coast to Coast

Of course, there are endless renditions of this song since it’s always customized to the camp you’re at! Clearly, insert your camp name where it says to. So for us, we’d sing Camp Deer Lake is the most! It’s a great song for some Camp Pride and a great way to get the girls excited on the bus ride to & from camp!

From coast to coast, (Repeat)
Camp <insert camp name here> is the most. (Repeat)

Na na na na na (Repeat)
Na na na na na na (Repeat)

From East to West, Camp <insert camp name here> is the best
From State to state, Camp <insert camp name here> is really great
From City to City, Camp <insert camp name here> is really pretty
From Town to town, Camp <insert camp name here> is getting down

Brownie Smile Song

Brownie Smile Song

Without a doubt, this has got to be the first song you learn as a Brownie Girl Scout! I was personally not a Daisy scout, so this is very likely the first Girl Scout song I ever learned! It’s still cute and makes me smile when I hear it in my head.

I’ve got something in my pocket
That belongs upon my face,
I keep it very close to me in a most convenient place.

I’m sure you couldn’t guess it if you guessed a long, long while,
So I’ll take it out and put it on,
It’s a great big Brownie Smile!

We Change the World

We Change the World

When I learned this song, we learned not just the English lyrics but also the hand motions for the song in American Sign Language. We would sing the song while signing it. Our association all-camp weekends we would sing it, but I don’t remember ever singing it with the ASL at our Council’s summer camps, so I don’t know where adding the ASL came from. Perhaps for a deaf scout that was just part of the association in our small city. If you know the ASL that goes along, please share diagrams or videos!

Change the world, come with me
Time to let our dreams fly free.
And it comes so easily, that is our way.
Every moment we’re alive, it’s our love that will survive,
In the Girl Scouts, together, We Change The World.

Sisters of every color, and friends from everywhere.
We all make the difference, when we show the world we care.
The Girl Scouts are our family,
And they show us what we can be
And I believe, together, We Change The World.

Change the world, come with me
Time to let our dreams fly free.
And it comes so easily, that is our way.
Every moment we’re alive, it’s our love that will survive,
In the Girl Scouts, together, We Change The World.

In a world with many faces, Girl Scouts find a way
To help in many places, along the trails we blaze.
We’ll light the light and do our share,
Reach out your hand and someone’s there,
And I believe, together, We Change The World.

Change the world, come with me
Time to let our dreams fly free.
And it comes so easily, that is our way.
Every moment we’re alive, it’s our love that will survive,
In the Girl Scouts, together, We Change The World.

Johnny Appleseed

Johnny Appleseed

With this song, we often changed the word Lord to Earth for the various religions and non-religious girls in the group.  It works just as well. I always substituted “earth” and got along just fine. To me, it actually makes more sense that way!

The Lord is good to me, and so I thank the Lord,
For giving me the things I need,
The sun and the rain and the appleseed,
The Lord is good to me.

And every seed that grows, shall grow into a tree.
And one day soon there’ll be apples there,
For everyone in the world to share,
The Lord is good to me.

The Little Green Frog

The Little Green Frog

There are a lot of great movements associated with this song. You can continue to sing the song faster or louder until it gets out of control. We also knew this song sometimes as MMM ACK Since most of the “EH”s were pronounced more like ACK.

  • Make frog eyes with hands next to head and open and close them when saying MMMM, EH
  • Swing hands in circle on hips for TRA LA LA LA LA
  • Honk truckers horn (pull down on an imaginary string with your arm bent 90 degrees) on HONK HONK
  • Lick hand when the Frog gets licked up

MMMM, EH Went the little green frog one day
MMMM, EH Went the little green frog
MMMM, EH Went the little green frog one day
and they all went MMMM, EH

WEELLLL, we all know frogs go..
TRA LA LA LA LA
TRA LA LA LA LA
TRA LA LA LA LA
we all know frogs go
TRA LA LA LA LA
they dont go MMMM, MMMM, EH!

HONK! HONK! went the big red truck one day
SPLIT, SPLAT! went the little green frog
Now the little green frog dont MMMM. EH no more
cuz he got licked up by a dog *slurping noise*
