Camptown Races
This song is also referred to as Camptown Ladies. The doo-da is the most fun part of the song, at least for a young girl it was! I remember usually singing a very abbreviated version of this song, but Camptown Races is more fun when you sing the whole thing!
The Camptown ladies sing this song,
Doo-da, Doo-da
The Camptown racetrack’s five miles long
Oh, de doo-da day
Goin’ to run all night
Goin’ to run all day
I bet my money on a bob-tailed nag
Somebody bet on the gray
Oh, the long tailed filly and the big black horse,
Doo-da, doo-da
Come to a mud hole and they all cut across,
Oh, de doo-da day
Goin’ to run all night
Goin’ to run all day
I bet my money on a bob-tailed nag
Somebody bet on the gray
I went down there with my hat caved in,
Doo-da, doo-da
I came back home with a pocket full of tin
Oh, de doo-da day
Goin’ to run all night
Goin’ to run all day
I bet my money on a bob-tailed nag
Somebody bet on the gray

B-I-N-G-O
Everyone knows this song. It’s an old favorite. I assume I was originally taught this in kindergarten, but we utilized it at camp and in meetings as well . Repeat and each time you sing the next verse substitute a letter with a clap.
There was a farmer who had a dog
And Bingo was his name-o.

She’ll Be Coming Round the Mountain
I loved this song, including the little words in between. This isn’t specifically a Girl Scout song, just a fun kids song. All the words in parenthesis are shouted or, if they’re sounds like “toot toot”, make the sound! We also made up little actions to them, like the motions of a truck horn during the “toot toot”. Little pantomimes make the song extra fun.
She’ll be coming round the mountain
When she comes
(Toot, toot!)
She’ll be coming round the mountain
When she comes
(Toot, toot!)
She’ll be coming round the mountain,
She’ll be coming round the mountain,
She’ll be coming round the mountain
When she comes
(Toot, toot!)
She’ll be driving six white horses
When she comes
(Whoa back!)
She’ll be driving six white horses
When she comes
(Whoa back!)
She’ll be driving six white horses,
She’ll be driving six white horses,
She’ll be driving six white horses
When she comes
(Whoa back! Toot, toot!)
Oh, we’ll all go out to meet her
When she comes
(Hi babe!)
Oh, we’ll all go out to meet her
When she comes
(Hi babe!)
Oh, we’ll all go out to meet her,
We’ll all go out to meet her,
We’ll all go out to meet her
When she comes
(Hi babe! Whoa back! Toot, toot!)
She’ll be wearing red pajamas
When she comes
(Scratch, scratch)
She’ll be wearing red pajamas
When she comes
(Scratch, scratch)
She’ll be wearing red pajamas,
She’ll be wearing red pajamas,
She’ll be wearing red pajamas
When she comes
(Scratch, scratch, Hi babe! Whoa back! Toot, toot!)
She will have to sleep with Grandma
When she comes
(She snores!)
She will have to sleep with Grandma
When she comes
(She snores!)
She will have to sleep with Grandma,
She’ll have to sleep with Grandma,
She will have to sleep with Grandma
When she comes
